tim binding on eric ravilious

Saturday's Guardian Weekend, their glossy colour supplement, carried a short piece by tim binding on eric ravilious, nice to read

it is a worthy enthusiasm and i commend readers to see some of ravilious' works in eastbourne's towner gallery, and in the most excellent book published by the imperial war museum, who also feature his work on their excellent website

design classic ?

maybe, because ...

it is cheap & practical

they've taken the traditional beehive shape about as far as you can go along the thin dividing line between recognition & pure simplicity

it is discreetly monumental because of its sensible proportion's

and maybe that little "squeezy honey" label would make a nice lapel badge for someone

cockney's eye-view of the gherkin

i really do like this building because of it's simplicity and it's proportions

it is much better looking than the barcelona tower

what i like to call the "triumph of visual logic"
