of the seven deadly sins, the eighth and worst by far is emotional blackmail ... the diligent practise of this subtle and ancient art creates a constantly evolving darwinistic moral vacuum in which the brightest new manipulative ideas and stratagems flourish ... and which only you, or i, can fill !

church of st mary magdalene at cowden in kent
i spotted this church some time ago, way off the main road but intriguing with it's pale and slightly twisted steeple
today i really needed a second break during the slow drive back to london after a long week, so i stopped, and was glad !
a weary chinese musician once asked me on a sunday morning, after he'd been up all night playing cards, "do you have religion ?" i've been thinking about it for ages, since i was a choirboy, but i feel as though i'm somehow blind to it, maybe as some are tone-deaf or colour blind, and that all i can do is to rejoice in every kind of human grace and happiness
I seem to be in agreement with you on this matter. Sometimes the language of religion is better than the thing itself. Yes, human grace and happiness. Nicely put!
I was glad when they said unto me: we will go into the house of the Lord
