i've fixed us a noticeboard, six feet high by two feet six ... in the loo ... how many postcards will it take ?
I thought this was a Key Skills multiple choice question, until I saw there was no multiple choice! Your noticeboard must have an area of 15 square feet. A post card we have from Falmouth measures 5.75 inches by 4.1 inches. I calculate the area of the postcard to be 23.5sq. inches. I reason that you would get about six cards in every square foot and that you should therefore get approx. 90 cards on the board. When I first tried to calculate it it the result came out at 7 cards! After a bit of thought I realised 7was not right. I then converted the feet you gave into inches, worked out the area and divided it by 24. The answer was 96. Does this pass, Tristan?
