  1. Appropos of your visit to Venice, rather than any one of your evocative photographs, have you read Donna Leon's detective stories all of which are set in Venice?

A Venice surrounded by a lagoon of Murano glass, suggests one of Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities.

  2. oh dear, i haven't read italo calvino yet, or donna leon ... i've only read primo levi ... so where do i begin ?

i see the lagoon project as a visible wall, possibly quite ornate, and an opportunity to create a thirty mile circular strip of real estate where millionaires can moor their cruisers and the locals can set up some fish farms
