of the seven deadly sins, the eighth and worst by far is emotional blackmail ... the diligent practise of this subtle and ancient art creates a constantly evolving darwinistic moral vacuum in which the brightest new manipulative ideas and stratagems flourish ... and which only you, or i, can fill !

saint nicholas' church at little langford ... at last !
for years i've been intrigued by glimpses of this isolated little gem whenever i took the train from salisbury up the wylye valley towards bath
today i deviated from my intended course by many miles and was rewarded
sadly the church was locked today
it doesn't look ever so old from the train when you are two hundred yards away at sixty miles an hour, but it has been much restored
it is only when you find your way down a rough old lane and walk around to the west side of the church that you find an ancient doorway with it's heavily weathered "animated" carvings
when i can find out how old it is, i'll let you know ... unless you can tell me first !

june and tony
three weeks ago today, tony westall and i met in the street outside his garden gate in lacock
sadly, i was in a moving car whilst tony was moving on foot, pretty fast
some very nice men came to take him away in a helicopter whilst his mum and dad both took the trouble to comfort me !
since then he's had three operations including a complicated bit of bone-grafting and things are looking good
as you can see, they aren't the sort to let a little bit of pain get them down !
