current reading material, long delayed

it is better than tristram shandy ! no, really !

i wish i'd read it years ago

i might be a couple of chapters further on by now but i couldn't get comfortable on that iron bench by the river in wandsworth park ... why can't they make one in my size ?

tristram shandy is horrible!! i had to read it as an undergrad--the only thing that was worse was Pamela.

blimey, josh ! i was taken by surprise as i'd only posted it a few minutes ago !

i admit tristram shandy is hard work, so that the characters and sterne's unique humanity come into focus only very slowly

i guess i'd like to have read lolita at the same time that i read catch 22 and slaughterhouse five

Nonono, Tristram is magnificent, Lolita is horrible.

Well, magnificently written, obviously, but horrible.

I can't justify my loathing of it. I just loathe it. Which makes me feel unpleasatly like Disgusted of Basingstoke, but there it is.
