It's all in the eye of the beholder, of course. The New York Central's streamlined Hudsons were gorgeous, of course, and I have a special place in my heart for the hulking grandeur of monsters like the Erie Triplex and the UP's Challenger, but wouldn't it have been marvelous to see something with the majesty of a Challenger dressed up in the finery that a master such as Gresley might have imagined for it?

As for the eye of the beholder, we were all lucky that Link picked up a camera to record what he did. Have you ever seen the movie "October Sky?" That's Link waving from the cab of the steamer that the rocket boys nearly derail.
