proof, if it were needed, that the romans introduced cricket to the ancient britons
i've always assumed that baseball was adapted from cricket by the red indians and that the real last straw that caused the war of independence was the royal tax on cricket bats
i doubt that either of us could make a case for either game being conducive to rational thought or conduct ... apart from the development and exercise of physical skill and athleticism, and the social benefit of involving strong men in non-mortal combat

Yes. That makes more sense to me than that tea snafu in Boston. It also explains why baseball bats are round (was probably a flat tax).
